Walking Event – Scafell Pike

May 11, 2024 all-day

The highest mountain in England, Scafell Pike sits not just high above the surrounding fells but also high on many walkers’ lists of must climb peaks. The starting point of Wasdale is found on the western edge of the lake district and can be an adventure of its own to get to so allow plenty of time to travel to the starting point.

The plan is to follow the valley until we reach a path called Moses Trod. This will be a gentle warm-up before we begin our ascent. Once we reach Moses Trod, we will head to the popular and picturesque Styhead Tarn. It’s the perfect place for a snack break. After that, we will make our way along the Corridor Route. This path offers some of the most spectacular mountain scenery the Lake District has to offer. However, the path does have a few small sections that require scrambling and can feel quite exposed in places. Once we reach Lingmell Col, we will rejoin the main route and finish our ascent of the highest mountain in England. There are various descent options, but the most likely route will be the most popular one up and down the mountain. We will head down the Hollow Stones route straight back to the car park.
