A hidden and sheltered quarry (named after the moor behind the old workings and called Laurencefield on some maps) has been visited by climbers for over sixty years. With a good set of climbs. A selection of easier and immensely popular routes around Gingerbread Slab, and some harder classics on the steeper walls of the Roadside Bay area, there is something here for everyone. You can spot some old and abandoned millstones dotted around the area, a lasting memory of the local quarrying that took place, and the top of the crag commands an incredible view across the valley into Hathersage and beyond.

These sessions are aimed at beginners and are perfect for first timers or progressing from indoor climbing to outdoor climbing. Our professional instructors will ensure you are fitted with a harness and helmet, before taking you through some basic rock-climbing tips and tricks before we get on the crag.
