Starting in the small village of Threlkeld we will slowly start to make our way up towards the fell, through fields and past streams and small waterfalls (and even a disused mine). At this point we will (weather permitting) head up on to Halls fell, mostly on wide paths, which at times may be steep and loose, to start with, which will get narrower and narrower before we find ourselves on Halls Fell Ridge, a series of rocky crags we will need to scramble over to reach the Summit. Once on the Summit we have the option to take a small detour to the subsidiary summit of Atkinsons Pike (did you know Blencathra has 6 summits?), before making our way down Blease Fell and back into Threlkeld.
Please note that Halls Fell Ridge is listed as a Grade 1 scramble and as such care is required to navigate it safely. It is narrow and exposed at times, however at no point is it a knife edge, like its more famous brother Sharp Edge. It makes for a perfect first scramble and you will be well looked after by our experienced team. Due to the nature of the rock type if it is wet we will NOT be attempting the scramble as it gets dangerously slippery and will instead take a different route up the mountain.
