We have teamed up with the Outdoor Partnership in Cumbria to run a number of free walking events. These events are specifically aimed at introducing residents of Copeland & Allerdale to our incredible green spaces.
These events include minibus transportation to and from local pick-up points, starting at Whitehaven Library at 10.00am. Details of all pick-up points, timings, and what to wear / fetch will be included in an information pack that is sent out after booking confirmation.
Derwent Water is a place of considerable scenic value. It is surrounded by hills (known locally as fells), and many of the slopes facing Derwentwater are extensively wooded.
The Bowder Stone is a large andesite lava boulder that fell 200 metres (660 ft) from the Bowder Crag on Kings How between 13,500 and 10,000 years ago
This is a beautiful walk, taking in some of the iconic views of the Lake District. That of Derwentwater and Skiddaw from Ashness Bridge, the famous Surprise View and that of the head of Borrowdale not far from Watendlath. It will take us along the lakeshore, through woodland, along rivers and up two modest climbs.
Further details of this walk, and the registration link, can be found on our JustGo platform.
