We have teamed up with the Outdoor Partnership in Cumbria to run a number of free walking events. These events are specifically aimed at introducing residents of Copeland & Allerdale to our incredible green spaces.
These events include minibus transportation to and from local pick-up points, starting at Whitehaven Library at 10.00am. Details of all pick-up points, timings, and what to wear / fetch will be included in an information pack that is sent out after booking confirmation.
This is a gentle low-level circular walk through woodland and pasture, and will be delivered by Dan Thistlethwaite. We will start in the small village of Nether Wasdale, just below the rocky cliffs of Illgill head, before heading anticlockwise to Santon Bridge, where we will break for a late lunch. After lunch we will complete our journey back to our awaiting vehicles. Although there are a few small sections of uphill, and a few sections of road walking, this should be a gentle walk on relatively flat foot paths.
Expect a mix of paved and unpaved paths.
We will likely be out for around 4 hours, so do bring a lunch and plenty of snacks. Even on a beautiful day it can be pretty cold, so don’t forget your warm layers.
Event Distance – 9.5km
Approx Activity Duration – 4 hours
Dogs – Friendly dogs on leads are allowed on this event
You can register onto this walk by heading over to our JustGo page.
