A beautiful walk that takes us through the upper parts of the Peak District, by Dovestone Reservoir, Greenfield Reservoir and Chew Reservoir which will ultimately bring us to the Trinnacle, a unique rocky outcrop made up of 3 columns standing tall above Saddleworth Moor. The moors are covered in blanket bog with peat formations they are over 9000 years old. The reservoirs all supply the surrounding areas with Chew Reservoir being one of the highest reservoirs in the UK at 488m tall.
This circular walk will begin from the main car park at Dovestone Reservoir after which we’ll steadily make our way towards Yeoman Hey Reservoir. From there, if weather conditions permit, we will make our way towards a small scramble up Birchen Clough and the waterfall, following this up along the edge until we cross the stream and find the Trinnacle. From there we carry on along the edge until we reach the car park.
